Griffin Brady is proud to announce that The Heart of a Hussar, Book One of The Winged Warrior Series, has been selected as a 2021 Chaucer Book Awards Finalist.

As a division of the Chanticleer International Book Awards, the Chaucer Book Awards recognize emerging new talent and outstanding historical fiction works taking place before the 1750s. It was first announced that The Heart of the Hussar made the Chaucer Book Awards Long List in August of 2021, where it appeared as one of twenty-five on the list. Next, the title would reach the Short List and a semi-finalist on February 13, 2022, having been narrowed down to twenty-one titles. Now as a Finalist, announced on March 14, 2022, The Heart of a Hussar is eligible to be named a Category or Grand Prize Winner at the CIBAs Banquet and Ceremony in June of this year.

“I feel incredibly honored to have made it to the finals,” Brady said in response to the announcement. “To write about a subject matter so near and dear to my heart and then to receive recognition like this for it, it’s both humbling and thrilling. I’ve loved sharing this period of history and the fierceness of Polish winged hussars with my readers.”

This is not the first time The Heart of a Hussar, Book One in The Winged Warrior Series, which follows a member of the Polish winged hussars during the Polish-Muscovite war in the early 17th century, has received critical acclaim. In July of last year, the title received a Bronze Medal for Best Adult Fiction E-Book at the 25th Annual Independent Publisher Book Awards and was named a Historical Fiction Finalist at the 15th Annual National Indie Excellence Awards. The Heart of A Hussar was also named  a Discovered Diamond after catching the eye of reviewers on the Discovering Diamonds staff.

Brady is excited about the momentum this will bring to The Winged Warriors SeriesThe Heart of a Hussar and Book Two, A Hussar’s Promise, are available for purchase on Amazon.
